Pitch It!
Commercialisation Pitch Session
Ever dreamed about participating in the show ‘Shark Tank’?
Join our Commercialisation Pitch Session - Pitch It! Open to all early career researchers (<10 years post PhD)!
What?
A pitch is a neat, packaged overview of your research project, plans going forward and what you’re looking for (‘the ask’).
Why?
Need to gain funding or support for your work? Research can be hard to understand – lay it out in simple terms for your target audience so they can see your vision and the steps to get there.
How?
To participate, please submit an abstract for ‘Commercialisation pitch’ by 20th September 2024. If selected, you will need to prepare a 3-minute pitch with PowerPoint slides.
Guidelines for pitch
Opening Slide: Introduce yourself, your project and why you are here.
Target Audience: Who are you pitching to? For example, a philanthropist or investment prospect.
Problem: What problem are you solving?
Solution: What is your solution?
The Market: Who are your target consumers?
Preliminary Data: What proof do you have?
Strategic Timeline: A high-level project plan of key and critical tasks.
Team: Who is involved?
The ‘Ask’: What do you want? If funding, how much, why you need it, and how you will deploy it.
The presenter must ensure that no commercially sensitive information is disclosed during their presentation. The content they discuss should reflect this caution. In essence, please refrain from including any details in the pitch that reveal specific, unprotected commercial values or divulge proprietary information.
